Bantam Boys Provincial Division 2 Champions

The Miramichi Pulamoo boy's basketball team hosted the Basketball New Brunswick Bantam Division 2 Championships this past weekend at Miramichi Valley high school.

The Miramichi Pulamoo boy's basketball team hosted the Basketball New Brunswick Bantam Division 2 Championships this past weekend at Miramichi Valley high school. The Pulamoo were defending champions and were looking to bring home a second provincial title on home turf. The Pulamoo faced the YCBC Capitals from Fredericton in their opening game. The Pulamoo defeated a very tough YCBC team 58-33, pulling away in the second half of a very close game. In game two the Pulamoo took on East Saint John. The Pulamoo controlled most of the game but ESJ faught hard and took the lead with under 30 seconds to play. The Pulamoo were able to withstand the ESJ charge for a narrow 42-41 victory. On Sunday the Pulamoo faced Lancaster, a win would put the Pulamoo into the final. The Pulamoo were able to open upa lead in the second half to defeat the Lynx 54-37. In the final the Pulamoo faced the Riverview Royals. The Pulamoo had only face Riverview once all season and had lost a very close game so they knew it would be an exciting game. The game was very close in the first half with neither team able to take control, the Pulamoo led by 3 at the half. The Pulamoo came out firing in the 3rd quarter and led by as many as 14 points. Riverview would not go away however and closed the Pulamoo lead to 4 late in the game. The Pulamoo hung on though and were able to secure the win 45-37 by making key foul shots late.
