The U11 Orange and U11 Black Boys hosted the February Frenzy tournament this weekend at Dr Losier. A Frenzy it was! Taking part in the tournament were Fredericton Fusion (Prescott), Fredericton Fusion (Kelly), Riverview Royals, and the Lancaster Lynx Gold. Hoops Black, after losing their first game against Fusion (Kelly) rebounded and battled to secure a 7 point victory against the Lynx. Hoops Orange won their first game in a very exciting match up against the Royals. Later in the day, Hoops Orange lost by one point in a nailbiter against Fusion (Prescott). After the dust settled on Saturday both Miramichi Hoops teams found themselves in the crossover games on Sunday.
The excitement continued Sunday as Hoops Orange defeated Fusion (Kelly) by 8 points to advance to the gold medal game. Hoops Black put together an amazing effort against Fusion (Prescott) but fell short and would play in the bronze medal game. In the bronze medal they fell to Fusion (Kelly) and placed fourth in the tournament. Hoops Black however did not leave as they formed the "Cheer Train" when the gold medal game began, cheering on Hoops Orange in their rematch against Fusion (Prescott). This game was another instant classic as both teams battled back and forth just like the day before but this time Hoops Orange was able to prevail and win the final game by 4 points, capturing the gold medal.
