Miramichi Hoops Hosts Successful Bantam Tournament
Miramichi Hoops recently hosted their annual bantam tournament. There were 8 ladies teams and 6 boy’s teams participating. The Pulamoo boys and girls teams faired very well in the tournament. The girls finished with a 2 and 1 record which was good enough for third place. In their first game the girls defeated KV A by a 42-24 score. In the semi-final later on that evening the girls lost a tough game 54-46 to St. Margaret’s Bay Nova Scotia. On Sunday the girls were able to rebound to defeat Riverview 46-41 to claim bronze. In the Gold medal game Sussex came out clicking and never looked back defeating St. Margaret’s Bay 53-23.
The Pulamoo boys had a record of 3 and 1. In their first game the Pulamoo took out Riverview B 47-30. In game two the Pulamoo faced Grand Falls. The boys got off to a great start and held on to defeat Grand Falls 44 to 24. With these two wins the Pulamoo qualified for the semi on Sunday morning. The Pulamoo defeated a very tough Antigonish team 56-36 to advance to the final. In the final the Pulamoo faced Bath. It was a close game throughout but the Pulamoo came up short falling 56-44. Grand Falls claimed bronze with a win over Antigonish.
