Basketball New Brunswick to offer Junior EDP

2014-09-14

BNB will be offering juior EDP, registration is now open

Basketball New Brunswick is pleased to once again offer the Junior Elite Development Program (Jr EDP) for athletes born in 2001 and 2002. EDP is designed to provide New Brunswick athletes and coaches with the essential skills and drills necessary to compete at an elite level in both provincial and national competitions. The curriculum will include concepts from the Canada Basketball (CB) Centre for Performance and Regional Training Centre programs, as well as a focus on fundamental weaknesses identified through the BNB Provincial Team and Bantam Elite programs.

The Senior Elite Development Program (Sr EDP), for athletes born in 1998-2000, will not be run this fall and will only be available next spring (April 2015). In place of Sr EDP this fall, BNB will be hosting a 3x3 Provincial Championship Tournament for players born in 1997-2000. Further details on this event will be coming soon!

Jr EDP will include five Regional Training Centres (RTC) around the province, and will be used as a key identifier for a provincial depth chart and the 2015 Bantam Elite Camp and U14 Provincial Team. The goal of Jr EDP is to have all of our top players learning from an advanced skills-based curriculum to set the stage for future Provincial Team programs. BNB is looking for athletes who are dedicated and committed to improving their skills. To be considered for BNB Provincial Teams or Bantam Elite Camp, athletes are strongly recommended to try out in the fall and participate for the duration of the program*. There will be eight training sessions in the fall (Jr age group only) and six training sessions leading into provincial team tryouts in May. The May Junior EDP competition day will serve as the identification session for Bantam Elite Camp.

*Athletes who are not available to participate in EDP (fall & spring) due to personal reasons may be required to submit an application form to be eligible for provincial team tryouts.
